Service Detail - Finishing

No part is complete without a proper finish. AdLib offers in-house powder painting and we outsource plating and anodizing of your choice. If you require screen-printing we can do that too.

Powder Coating is an advanced yet simple way of spray-painting a very fine, dry plastic powder paint onto a metal surface. As the powder paint cloud gently leaves the front of the spray gun, it is charged with static electricity which attracts the powder paint to the part that requires coating. The part is then placed in an oven, where it bakes at 400°F for 10 minutes. While in the oven, the powder paint melts and flows into a beautiful and durable finish. Primers are not neccesary, plus there are no unsightly runs or drips - as often occours with wet paint. Prior to baking powder coating is very forgiving, and can easily fixed and changed with just a simple air nozzle.

However, once the powder is cured in the oven, only sand blasting or burning can remove imperfections - a cold liquid stripper is available, but is slow, hazardous and could damage the metal. Recoating over an existing finish is possible, but difficult.

Even more important though, is that powder coating is environmentally friendly - because all over-spray is reused. With no solvents, the paint doesn't pollute the air either.finish back
